;; i need to get my story straight | [atrb=style, width: 440px; background: #F8ECC9; border-left: 5px solid #F1BBBA; border-right: 5px solid #F1BBBA; border-bottom: 5px solid #F1BBBA; color: #271A09] Caden Taylor sat atop her wooden tack trunk, still in Tailored Sportsman's and Ariat Monacos. What, was she supposed to change after grain was dropped, and before her pigs of horses finished eating? Ha! This morning Lacey had stuck her hoof in her bucket and tore the clip off the wall. Of course the grooms had fixed it during the day, but Caden wasn't taking any more chances. Once the grey finished, her bucket was coming out.
Caden stood and walked the couple of yards to stand in front of Fiona's stall. The mare tried to wedge her lips through the bars to nuzzle Caden, but ended up snorting and stomping when it didn't work. Caden smiled and stroked the mare's pink nose. The mare went back to her food, swishing her tail happily.
The most noise in the barn came from Lacey, the green mare that Caden had pretty much purchased three months ago. She stuck her nose in her grain bucket and flipped it up, causing a plastic against wood sound that was almost unbearable to the ears. Speaking of ears, Lacey had shavings in them, and her tail, which Caden had to pick out in a couple of minutes. Who was the one that wanted to buy the grey, again? Oh right, her.
Despite her hard to care for color, she was a dream on the ground. Most of the time. Sometimes. Every once and a while. Let's just say Caden would never take her in public on one of her off days.
Clicks of another's heels filled the barn. They were barely audible over Lacey's munching, but Caden heard them, and turned from Fiona to greet the newcomer with her eyes.
