Her parents had called this morning and asked her how Limitless Time was doing. But the truth is, Maddie hadn't seen him since yesterday. She felt quite ashamed for that. Maddie hadn't told her parents the complete truth about Limitless, but she did make a promise to herself and her parents that she would ride today. It did happen to be a Saturday, so a long ride with Limitless was in order. Maddie woke up this fine Saturday morning with a big grin on her face. It was the perfect time to get up and get ready. Maddie had slept in a bit, although not too late, so she had missed the rush of students, and barn hands, trying to get out there before everyone else. It never worked, though, because everyone tryed to get in there at about the same time. Not Maddie, because she had decided to make a schedule of her own. Every Saturday would be a day to spend time with her horse. Maddie jumped in the shower, washed her hair as fast as she possibly could, and jumped right back out again. Maddie pulled on her favorite jodhpurs, riding boots, and bright pink polo. Maddie ran out the door and to the barn Limitless was boarding at. Before even taking Limitless out of the stall, maddie walked over to the tack room. She found Limitless' trunk and pulled out his brush, curry comb, and black comb. Maddie also grabbed his lead line and rope halter. Maddie believed that the rope halter was the most effective halter for Limitless. Her horse was one of the stubborn ones, but usually not for Maddie. Maddie walked out of te tack room, but she left his tack trunk closed because she would just have to put the brushes back in anyways. Maddie walked over to Limitless' stall and opened the door. Just as Maddie had taught him, he stepped over as soon as Maddie walked in the door. Maddie loved that he did that because there was never any pushing or shoving to get out the door. Maddie tied the halter on him and clipped the leadrope on. amddie tied him up outside of his stall and brushed him down, making sure he was extra shiny. Maddie put away his brushes and got out his saddle and bridle. Maddie threw on the saddle and clipped it all up, but when she put the bridle on Limitless, it snapped. Her best bridle, broken. Now what was she going to do? Maddie heard someone walking into the barn, and caught a glimpse of a nice looking boy. "Hello, ya, Excuse me, but do you happen to have a sspare bridle on hand, mine just snapped." Maddie said to him. Willing him to respond, Maddie held up the snapped bridle. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - STATUS: Finished. it comes back and makes me catch her every time she fallstap on my window knock on my door i wanna make you feel beautiful Staring wearily at the ceiling, Sawyer adjusted his leg from it's rather awkward position. At three o'clock that morning, he had woken up because of the friendly squirrel scratching at his window. He had fed it an orange slice as he did every morning. Sadly he hadn't been able to go back to sleep. Taking pictures wasn't an option, because everything outside was pitch black. Flash would make the photos look amateur. So, for three or four hours, he just played Angry Birds on his phone, watched boring early morning specials on the TV and drew his old schools crest from memory a thousand times.
He missed Britain. It was obvious. All over his face, in his eyes, even his body language showed he wanted to go home. But this was his home now.
Energetic knocking on the door shocked him from his daydreaming, and he lumbered to the door, opening it. Poppy in her teddy bear pajamas, Kinsey in athletic shorts and a t-shirt, and his father at the door. It was six in the morning!
"Poppy wanted to see you, and Kinsey just wanted to see the horses." His father said, clearing the confusion in his eyes. Poppy would do something like that. The eleven year old leaped forward and hugged her older brother, while Kinsey - being thirteen - only walked in and wandered around the video game consoles. Tired, Sawyer looked down at his little sister, who looked as if she were about to cry. Then, looking back up at his straight-faced father, he nodded in understanding and awkwardly shrugged a shoulder, unsure what to do.
Just a second or two later, without a word, his father shut the door and left the three siblings to themselves. Sawyer lifted his sister off of his torso and set her on the bed, sitting down beside her. "Pa said we have to go home at nine a.m." Poppy stated. To his surprise, she flopped onto the pillow and closed her eyes. She didn't care what she did, what they did, she just wanted to have her older brother there again.
Sawyer, Kinsey and Poppy basically did nothing for three hours. Kinsey just played Black Ops for the whole time, Poppy pretty much slept and snacked on food, Sawyer just helplessly stared through the whole thing. Why would then visit if they didn't want to do anything besides what they normally did at home? Maybe that was the point. Maybe it wasn't home without Sawyer there, and they wanted it to be home again.
No, too emotionally complicated for them for that to be the reason.
When their mother came to pick them up at nine, Sawyer decided that Buttons and Patch needed some exercise. He yanked on beige breeches and a white button-down shirt with - you guessed it - the crest on it, and black Ariat boots. Then, slipping out the door and to the barn, he wasn't so tired anymore.
Tacking up was easy. Buttons was calm and still a bit sleepy. Sawyer rubbed the dirt off with a curry brush and placed a white saddle pad on, then a half pad and finally a saddle. He pulled the bridle gently over his head and peeked into the trunk, looking at all the spares he had. His parents had bought him two of everything.
"Hello, ya, Excuse me, but do you happen to have a spare bridle on hand, mine just snapped."
Sawyer looked over to see a girl who he hadn't noticed before. He immediately blushed, but nodded quickly and went into his tack trunk. Pulling out a black bridle, he held it out. "Here, use this one. It's one of my best," He said quietly and politely with a smile.
