One of the top trainers of dressage horses in the world; no less than three of his projects have gone on to become Olympic contenders. Victoria is his grand-daughter. Her training skills are a little more diverse, due to the many branches of her family who chose horses as lifestyle. She has an uncle who does natural horsemanship; a father who breeds Warmbloods; a mother who trains eventers; a sister who teaches riding lessons; and an aunt who competes in reining at the international levels. Tori was quite literally raised in a barn. She was sent to private schools with riding teams from kindergarten on up, and had tutors for when she was off showing. And she showed a lot. When she was sixteen Tori stopped showing and started focusing on her training. Her business had really started when she was ten; Tori and her twin sister Elizabeth did extra groundwork on the weanlings their father sold, and the eventers their mother trained, for a small percentage of the original charge. It wasn't until she was twenty that Tori really quit her show dreams and started taking on her own clients. That was the year Elizabeth fell. The more riding oriented twin was showing a client's young stallion in a jumper class and had already made it through a clear round. At the very end of her second round the stallion was tiring and added an extra stride in for an oxer that was already going to be tight. The horse tried to make it over but ended up going through the top rails. The collision knocked him out of the air and he fell five feet to land on top of his rider. Elizabeth was lucky to have survived the fall but the doctor's eventual verdict was devastating; she was paralyzed from the waist down. She could do quiet walk rides but she would never jump again. Tori tried to quit riding to help her twin start up a lesson program but she usually just ended up making the students cry so Elizabeth kicked her out and told her to go back to what she did best; training. So Tori did. Internships, lessons, clinics. Anything that would make her a better trainer, Tori shelled out the money for. Or rather, her father did. But the young woman was starting to make a name for herself and money was really coming in. Due to her rather blunt nature and obvious lack of tact, it was surprising to her family when Tori agreed to take a job at White Oak. But something Tori had learned from her twin is this; children are the future of everything, including riding, and we had better start realizing that before all the greats die off and we're left with snobby brats who only care about winning. And that is a direct quote. So really, her love of horses prompted the job decision, not her love of her children. hi! my name is nevvy, and i've been on earth for seveteen! out of six, i've been roleplaying! now, my other characters are robin evans and Gideon hale. i live in the GMT -5 and you can reach me by pm. |
