So this is it then the barn at White Oak, Anthony thought as he walked through the large doors for maybe the fourth time ever. He had been in it before, yes when he was unloading his two horses and to make sure they were settling fine but he never had the chance to get a good long look at it. The floors were clean, and the stalls had somewhat of a shiny new look to them. Anthony took a deep breath in before continuing down the aisle. The lonely sound of his Ariat Heritage Field boots could be heard in the nearly quiet barn.
A content smile appeared on his face after he approached the stall of his horse, Andy. The gelding was nibbling on his hay net before Anthony entered the stall; but his attention was soon turned towards Anthony who came bearing grooming utensils, and much anticipated treats. He held out a flat hand with an apple on it, offering it to Andy who didn’t hesitate to accept. After eating the apple, the horse had begun licking the hands of his rider. Anthony just grinned, not needing to say anything to his companion. After opening the stall, he grabbed hold of the leather halter on Andy’s head and led him outside of the stall where Anthony would tie up the horse. He looked at that brown leather halter, and traced his fingers over the shining brass plate that read ALTITUDE. His fingers and eyes wandered up towards that gelding’s mane, and that was when he noticed that it was a little on the long side. Soon, Anthony had headed back to the tack room to grab a pulling comb from the inside of the backpack that he had left on the floor.
Not long after he had returned to Andy, Anthony had heard someone walking up the aisle in the barn.
