This little 14.2 hand gelding was adopted by Claire Evans after going through two different adoptions sites. When she got him home the first thing he did was to prove his value by jumping out of the six foot high round pen she had set up for him. And things only got better from there. When Robin was ten she was given responsibility of Puck, who was green broke at the time. He was her first project horse and is still her best friend. The pair of them have gone on six to eight hour trail rides alone, week long cattle drives with Robin's neighbors, camping trips, eventing shows, team penning competitions, tried bridle-less riding, gone swimming. You name it they've probably tried it. Puck's forte is jumping though. He is usually the target of laughter and snide comments in the warm up ring, especially at the upper level shows, because of his diminutive size and BLM brand. But once his round starts the little bay pony takes the entire audience on the ride with him. In his entire career Puck has never once refused a fence or dropped a rail. He isn't a big fan of things like 'jumping form' and 'distances' but he makes up for it in pure enthusiasm. His personality quirks certainly make him an interesting pony to own. In true pony form Puck will take advantage of less experienced riders and handlers. He also knows how to unlatch his stall door and has a nasty habit of letting the rest of the horses free if the chain on his latch isn't done up properly. He also has an odd aversion to dogs of any kind and rather than run from them he will chase them and try to attack them. Puck likes to switch fields himself and will often be spotted in three or four different ones a day. He is a biter, a bolter, a hat stealer, a cross-tie breaker, and a lover of human foods of any kind. It is often remarked that 'Puck' is a very suitable name. mikey is a lady killer?! of caution 2.0 |
