His registered name rather, not his barn name. They called him that because he spent the first three years of his life sleeping or wishing he was asleep. Which is why he was sent off to an eventing trainer after only two weeks of race training. Turns out all he really wanted to do was jump. Robin's father now thoroughly regrets giving Batman to his daughter every time he watches the horse roll through a cross country course. In the barn Batman is an absolute sweet heart. He loves to cuddle but you have to be careful because if he thinks there is food he will tear pockets off your clothing. In fact, he might even be considered too much of a love bug. Sometimes he can get downright pushy. And for a 17.2 hand Thoroughbred that is more than a little dangerous. At least they gelded him at a reasonable age so he is pretty much oblivious to mares. Batman is incredibly honest to the jumps. If he isn't going over it you will know before you get within fifty feet of it. In the same vein, once he commits he is going over, whether the rider comes with him or not. This makes him an invaluable show jumper since he can make any distance and any turn found in a course. He can be picky about dressage but mostly he is just upset because he knows he won't get to jump as soon as he sees the dressage saddle. All in all he is really just a wonderful horse. Except for that annoying little habit he has of rolling in the mud right before a ride. mikey is a lady killer?! of caution 2.0 |
